For even if I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it. 2 Corinthians 7:8
For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
Are you surrounded by people who are willing to tell you the truth? Or are you surrounded by people who tell you what you want to hear?
Paul was a true friend to the Corinthians and that is the very reason he rebuked them. In our world it is very common for people to judge incorrectly out of envy or hate for others and that is a problem. Paul was very clear that he wasn't judging and that God would judge according to his plans. Paul said it like it was, based on what God led him to say. He didn't degrade people, he promoted godly behavior.
Paul was very clear that he was the chief of sinners and he gladly admitted it. He issued rebukes in GRACE!
We must ask God to prepare us to help rebuke and lead others into repentance. We also must ask God to prepare our hearts to be rebuked by those around us whom we love and trust. Growth in Jesus Christ will only come when we realize our shortcomings and need for him more and more in our life.
Prayer: Ask God today who you can encourage in godly behavior. Also pray that could would prepare your heart to be rebuked by those around you.
