Then Joshua said to the children of Israel: How long will you neglect to go and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers has given you? Joshua 18:3
We say we don't know what God wants us to do, so we wait on him to answer our prayer. However, if we're honest with ourselves, perhaps we don't really want to know what God wants, and we have tuned him out. In our hearts we know what to do, but we just pretend to not hear God. Most of the time God has told us what to do, it just wasn't what we wanted to hear, so we wait, wait, and wait.
Joshua was calling the Israelites out for this very reason, he was asking them how long will you wait to go take possession of the land that Yahweh has given you. They had continued to neglect and procrastinate this matter.
So now the question turns to us. How long will we wait? We really know what to do. If not, the reason maybe we don't want to know.
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12:9 "we should boast in our weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may reside in me."
We must stop living in fear and boast in our weaknesses, so that Christ can work in us through his power in spite of them. We hear God, we know what to do, but we are afraid at times because it causes our weaknesses to be exposed. His strength will overcome all our weaknesses, our past, and allow us to succeed in whatever he is calling us to do.
Prayer: Ask God to make sure you hear him clearly today and to help you tune out your weaknesses and slackness in doing what he has called you to do.
