Why read?

Bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas when you come--and the books, especially the parchments. 2 Timothy 4:13

Paul was spending his last days in a prison cell as a punishment for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In a letter to his friend Timothy he asked for a cloak to keep him warm and his reading material. Why did he ask for his reading material at this point in his life?

He was going to die. He had already studied and written his books.

This is a clue we should take from Paul as to why we need to read the Word of God daily and use other bible studies. In order to grow in Christ we must take reading seriously and see how Paul even in jail at the end of his life didn't neglect his studying and reading to keep his mind sharp.
